Spelling Bee

About Spelling Bee

Calling all the fans of Strands NYT! If you want to challenge yourself by forming words from provided letters, you’ve probably heard of this title. Let’s take the fun and difficulty to the next level with Spelling Bee!

As the name implies, you will see hexagonal cells like a honeycomb on the screen, adding visual appeal to the gameplay. The best part is yet to come. The attraction lies in the competitiveness of the game, as you will be ranked based on your points. The journey from a beginner to a genius will be filled with a lot of fun.

How To Play The Spelling Bee Game

The game will give you seven letters in advance, including one yellow character in the center. Your job is pretty simple. You only have to form as many words as possible from the provided letters. However, you don’t need to include all seven words in your answer.

Your guess should comprise at least 4 letters and must have the yellow character. The good news is that you can use each letter more than once. Obscure words, proper nouns, vulgarities, and those with hyphens are not accepted in the game.

To write your guess, click on the letters on the screen or type in using your keyboard. Then, hit Enter to submit your answer.

After midnight, a new puzzle will be released. Let’s see how many words you can generate in one day!

The Scoring In The Game

Here is how your answer is scored in Spelling Bee:

  • Four-letter words give you 1 point.
  • For words with five or more letters, you will earn 1 point for each letter.
  • If you form pangrams or those including all seven characters, you will receive a bonus of 7 extra points. It means you will have 14 points in total. Each puzzle will hide at least one pangram.
  • Depending on your final score after each game, you will be ranked at different levels:

  • Beginner: 0 points
  • Novice: from 9 points
  • Okay: at least 18 points
  • Good: from 27 points
  • Very good: from 36 points
  • Superb: at least 45 points

  • Tips For Playing

Want to level up as quickly as possible? Keep in mind these notes:

  • If you’re struggling with finding a valid word, try shuffling the letters using the Shuffle icon at the bottom. This can give you a new perspective, making it easier to come up with new words.
  • While playing, check your word list to avoid repeating. All your correct words are saved in the Your Words list at the top. Click on it, and you’ll see a drop-down list.
  • If the honeycomb display confuses you, switch to round cells for a clearer view, boosting your imagination. Choose the three-dash menu on the top right corner and select Round Cells.
  • When you’re at a dead end and can’t move on with the ranking, consider resetting the game. All the previous results will be deleted, and you can start a new puzzle from scratch.
